Antonio Grulli (ed.) - The Radiant Van CANEMORTO

The Radiant Van by CANEMORTO, curated by Antonio Grulli, brings together in publication form the journey of the artistic project The Radiant Van, a work created in collaboration with the public art institution Luci d’Artista. The project originated in Turin—a city deeply tied both to the history of the Italian automobile industry and to legends of magic and esotericism— where CANEMORTO transformed the side of a van by covering it with a luminous constellation of symbols associated with good fortune and positive energy drawn from cultures around the world. Travelling from Turin to Ljubljana aboard their van, CANEMORTO also revived The Painting Race, a project first created in Bologna in 2024, turning the exhibition space into a racetrack for remote-controlled cars combined with paintings by the artists themselves. Through essays by Antonio Grulli, Jani Pirnat, and Matjaž Brulc, together with CANEMORTO’s descriptions of the lucky symbols, The Radiant Van emerges as a vivid reflection of the trio’s dynamic and experimental artistic practice.

The Radiant Van di CANEMORTO, curato da Antonio Grulli, raccoglie in forma di pubblicazione il viaggio del progetto artistico The Radiant Van, opera nata in collaborazione con l’istituzione d’arte pubblica Luci d’Artista. L’opera nasce a Torino – città che unisce la storia dell’automobile italiana e leggende legate alla magia e all’esoterismo – dove i CANEMORTO hanno modificando la fiancata di un furgone ricoprendolo con una costellazione luminosa di simboli portatori di buona fortuna e di energie positive provenienti da culture di tutto il mondo. Da Torino a Lubiana, i CANEMORTO si sono spostati a bordo del loro furgone proponendo nuovamente il progetto The Painting Race, creato a Bologna nel 2024, trasformando lo spazio espositivo in una pista per macchine telecomandate combinate a quadri degli stessi artisti. Attraverso i saggi di Antonio Grulli, Jani Pirnat e Matjaž Brulc e alla descrizione dei simboli portafortuna fornita da Canemorto, The Radiant Van si presenta come una restituzione della dinamicità e della sperimentazione artistica del trio.
